Marae Sleepover

10th March, 2009

Yay! School is finished! Mrs. Yang told us to line up outside our classroom. We know what you are wondering. Why did we have to line up after school? It was time for Year 5 students' Marae Sleepover.

Be with us, and we will tell you about our exciting trip!

Time to say goodbye
Thanks to all teachers and parent helpers who gave up their spare time and came to our sleepover! Thanks to all staff who worked at the Te Tahawai Marae.
Would you like to learn some Maori words? Here are some for you!

  1. Fantastic photos Room 13. Sounds like you had a great time at the marae. That would have been your biggest sleepover you have had. Well done.

I really enjoyed staying over at the marae with you. I like how you all tried very hard to learn some basic Te Reo and joined in with the waiata. I'm glad though that the adults won the quiz!!! I hope that you continue learning more words in Te Reo.
Well done on this first blog post for your class

  4. Hi Room 13
It looks like you had a fun and interesting time at the Marae. What lucky children you were to be able to stay the night at a Marae. I would love to be able to do that. Thank you for sharing what you did with us.

  5. It sounds like you had a great time. Did the whole class get to go on the sleepover? Is this a normal activity at your school? I have seen several other schools in New Zealand do similar things. Overnight activities don't tend to be part of the curriculum in the US.

  6. It looks like you had a fabulous time on the Marae. I wonder if it was noisy at night time with lots of people snoring?
